St. Edward traveled to St. Paris Graham as the top two teams in Ohio renewed their rivalry in one of high school wrestling’s great match-ups.
With Ed’s prevailing, 27-25, it was 103-pounder Anthony Stanley who stood tallest in the Ed’s line-up as hero of the night. He won the dual’s final match, thanks to the draw of weights, and registered a thrilling overtime victory to seal the deal for the Eagles.
As coach Heffernan hoisted Stanley to his shoulders after the deciding bout, it was a symbolic view of Ed’s reclaiming the top spot in the state.
Gohio casts has a great interview with Coach Greg Urbas posted at www.Gohiocasts.com
Check out Urbas’s answer to the question of what it is like to come into a “hostile” environment at Graham. “Hostile?” smiles Urbas. “I don’t think it was hostile. I think it was noisy!”
“This night was great for wrestling,” said Urbas, adding that he expected a “Humdinger.”
A humdinger it was! Also check out the great Kevin Schlosser photo of Heffernan hoisting Stanley and all the photos and results at www.Buckeyewrestling.com
It truly was a great night for wrestling!
