Westlake Police Report 12/9/2012

A Westlake man’s $350 cell phone was taken from his unlocked 2001 Jeep between 9:30PM-10PM on Dec. 1. The theft occurred in a Center Ridge Rd. apartment house parking lot. No suspects.


A Canterbury Rd. man’s garage was entered on the night of Dec. 1 through the unlocked pedestrian door. $110 in quarters, a wallet, and a GPS unit ($100 value) were taken from one of the vehicles inside. No suspects.


A 16-year-old Westlake girl’s debit card was used fraudulently five times between Nov. 13-29; $575 was withdrawn from her account. She suspects schoolmates that she gives a ride home to; the investigation continues.


On Dec. 3 at 4:55PM, a North Olmsted woman reported the theft of her wedding ring from her mother’s home on Primrose Ln. It was taken on Nov. 26. She suspects relatives from out of town.


A 55-year-old Columbia Rd. man was arrested after a fracas at his home on Dec. 3 at 7:19PM. He had nailed a door shut in an attempt to keep his 57-year-old wife from leaving as well as threatening to kill her and burn down the house. He fought with the three arresting officers and kicked one in the leg. He faces charges of Domestic Violence, Unlawful Restraint, Resisting Arrest, and 3 counts of Assault on a Police Officer. 6 rifles of varying calibers, one shotgun, and a .40cal semi-auto handgun were removed from the house.


Four counterfeit $100 bills were passed at Dave and Busters on Dec. 3 at 10:10PM. The suspects fled before WPD officers arrived; they are described as 4 black adults and 9 black children. The bills were turned over to the Secret Service.


An employee arriving for work at a Cahoon Rd. restaurant on Dec. 5 at 9:07AM discovered the theft of clothing, an undetermined amount of cash, and gift cards. There were no signs of forced entry and no suspects.


An 18-year-old Cleveland man and a 15-year old Cleveland boy each stole a $53 pair of shoes from a Crocker Park Blvd. shoe store on Dec. 6 at 6:32PM. The juvenile also took a $5 pair of underpants and a display bottle of perfume (value unknown).  All the property was recovered and both were charged with RSP; the adult lied about his identity and so also faces a charge of Obstructing Official Business.


A Westwood Rd. man is out $450 after he found the cash missing from his home on Dec. 7 at 7PM. He suspected a relative, who denied any involvement.


A Fitzroy St. home’s walkout basement door was found to have damage to it on Dec. 8 at 12:30AM. No entry was gained; it is unclear when it may have been tampered with.


A 1998 Honda Civic belonging to an Alabama man was stolen on the night of Dec. 8. He had been staying at a Clemens Rd. motel when it was taken. No suspects.
