West Shore Favorites Introduce New Preschool Academy
Nonprofit neighbors BAYarts and Lake Erie Nature & Science Center share the Cleveland Metroparks’ Huntington Reservation and decades of experience providing nature- and art-based programs for students of all ages.
After months of creative collaboration, the two organizations will unveil a brand new joint program in early childhood education, the Mini Arts & Nature Academy, with an Open House on Wednesday, February 6, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
“The Mini Arts & Nature Academy is a great opportunity for parents of preschoolers between the ages of three and six to enroll their child in a program that is both fun and integrates with Ohio’s Early Learning and Development Standards,” said Teece Lester, or “Miss Teece,” as she is known to attendees of the popular “Nature Nuts” preschool program at Lake Erie Nature & Science Center and “Miss Teece Mondays” classes and workshops at BAYarts. “We have a unique opportunity to develop a love of learning by offering a truly play-based, multi-sensory, hands-on curriculum incorporating just about everything young children love — animals, art, dance, music, outdoor explorations, science experiments and the stars — in a format that helps families make the most of their time and budget.”
Families can choose from a menu of age and interest-based offerings and develop a schedule that’s perfect for their child. Nature Nuts, Cabin Critters and the Log Cabin Explorer’s Club will include meeting wildlife as well as exploring the outdoors and the planetarium at Lake Erie Nature & Science Center. Mini-Mosaics: Art & Ceramics, Art & Music and Art & Theater will meet to work on the development of rhythm, fine motor skills and creative expression at BAYarts. Programs start in September, 2013 and meet daily from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.
Registration for the Mini Arts & Nature Academy begins at the February 6 Open House with Early Bird registration prices of $100 OFF each program. Both Lake Erie Nature & Science Center and BAYarts will be open to walk through on this special night.
