On Saturday morning, July 27, 2013 at 6:30am, a Wolf Road resident called to report someone tried to enter her home through her front and rear doors. While checking the area, officers located a white male in the screened in porch of another residence. The male was acting strange and was arrested for criminal trespass. Subsequently, officers located additional property on the porch that did not belong to the homeowner and also located a vehicle in the backyard of a Wolf Road home three doors away. The vehicle was found to be stolen out of Amherst earlier in the morning. The arrested male identified himself as the owner of the stolen car and the male had the wallet of the vehicle owner, as well as other property, in his possession. The male also had a small dog in his possession. The real owner of the car was contacted and explained that his car, car keys and wallet were inside the stolen car. It was later learned the male was William Duran Morris, 31 years old, from West Virginia. Morris was in the area to visit Cedar Point when he walked away from the hotel the family was staying in and stole the car in Amherst. After being incarcerated, Morris damaged a jail door. Morris was charged with burglary, attempted burglary and receiving stolen property (motor vehicle) and may face charges for felony vandalism. The small dog, which turned out to belong to the Morris family, was taken by the Cuyahoga County Dog Warden.
On July 25th at 5:30pm, Heinen’s reported that a male shoplifted a bottle of liquor and exited the store through the back stockroom doors. After checking the surveillance video and speaking with witnesses, a description was obtained. Officers located the juvenile male near the Skate Park in Cahoon Park. The juvenile male was intoxicated. He will be filed on in Juvenile Court for theft, criminal trespass and possession of alcohol.
On July 24th a Bay Village resident reported her ex-boyfriend fraudulently opened a credit card in her name and incurred nearly $4000 in charges. Detectives are investigating.
A Bay Village Police Officer stopped a vehicle on July 24th at 2:30am for weaving on Bradley Road. It was apparent the occupants had been drinking alcohol. All three 18-19 year old occupants were tested and found to have been drinking. They were all arrested and charged with consumption of alcohol. During a search of the vehicle, alcohol and drug paraphernalia was located. One of the males was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
On July 22, 2013 a Perry Drive resident reported her mailbox was damaged. It appeared a firecracker had been exploded inside the box sometime in the early morning hours causing the damage.
On July 23 at approximately 3:30am, a resident on Kenilworth flagged down an Officer to report hearing voices in her backyard and the sound of someone vomiting. Officers did not locate anyone in the yard, but did find two leather moccasins in the grass. While checking the area, a shoeless 18 year male and 19 year old male were located, both highly intoxicated. Both were arrested and charged with underage consumption of alcohol.
On July 28, 2013 at about 8:42pm, an Officer observed a male and a female walking from the railroad tracks under Clague Parkway to under the bridge area. The officer observed the male lighting something and approached the two juveniles. The male attempted to conceal a smoking device and the Officer could immediately smell the odor of marijuana. Both were found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and were also charged with criminal trespassing. The male was also charged with possession of marijuana.
