The USO of Northern Ohio held its 11th Annual Bob Hope USO Golf Outing on Friday, September 13 at Sweetbriar at Legacy Point in Avon Lake.
This outing is annually the largest fundraising event for the USO of Northern Ohio (USONOH). Last week’s event was once again a success as over 250 golfers came out to support the USO.
WTAM personality Bob Frantz welcomed guests with a patriotic opening ceremony capped by a 21-gun salute to United States servicemen and women by the Avon Lake Police Department. Also on hand was Avon Lake City Council President Martin O’Donnell. Special guests included former Cleveland Browns stars Cleo Miller, Greg Pruitt, Don Cockroft and John Thierry. As always, Bob Hope – nephew of the legendary comedian of the same name – joined in the effort.
Once again this year, the West Shore community turned out with great support as the area’s leading patriotic businesses and organizations assisted the USO by participating in the event and sending foursomes for a day of golfing enjoyment that also supports our local troops.
Monetary donations to the USO, today as always, are greatly appreciated, and are tax deductible. Show your support for the brave men and women who serve in our military by supporting the USO of Northern Ohio. A few of the USO of Northern Ohio’s special brand of programs and services include:
• The USO Canteen at the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) • Bob Hope/USO Lounge at Cleveland Hopkins Airport • Hospitality Support for Deployments, Welcome Homes, Family Days and Holiday Parties.
