Away with the Manger: Jesus Stolen in Westlake

Westlake Police logoSome  people just don’t know that it is better to give than to receive at Christmas time.

Westlake Police report that an infant Jesus and his manger were stolen from a Queen Anne’s Gate yard on Dec. 20 sometime 7-11 p.m.

Since then, the real Baby Jesus has been discovered alive and well at many of the Christmas services hosted by churches throughout Westlake and all over the world. Too bad the thieves that robbed the manger on Queen Anne’s Gate have not yet realized that the love of God is free to all – you don’t have to steal Jesus to get it!

“Unfortunately, this incident didn’t turn out like the 1967 ‘Dragnet’ Christmas TV episode, where the Infant is taken from a crèche in a church,” said Westlake Police Capt. Guy Turner. “In that story, a little boy returns the statue. He explains to Sgt. Friday that out of gratitude for the gift of a wagon, he gave the child Jesus the first ride in it.”
