Bay Village Police Blotter: Do Not Drink and Drive

On 12/28/2013, at 0211 hrs, a BVPD officer stopped a vehicle on Osborn near Bassett for a traffic violation. After speaking with the driver and the occupants, the officer suspected some, or all of the underage occupants had been drinking. Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, a 19 yoa female, 2-19 yoa males, and an 18 yoa male were arrested for various underage alcohol violations. They will face charges at RRMC.

 

On 12/26/2013, at 0216 hrs, a BVPD officer stopped a vehicle on Arlington Circle for a traffic  violation. After speaking with the 32 yoa male driver, the officer suspected the driver had been drinking and smoking marijuana. Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the driver was arrested for OVI. He also admitted there was marijuana in the vehicle and was charged accordingly. The Michigan resident will face charges at RRMC.

 

On 12/25/2013, at 0048 hrs, a BVPD officer stopped a vehicle on Lake Rd. near the Avon Lake border for a traffic violation. After speaking with the 47 yoa male driver, the officer suspected the driver had been drinking. Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the male was arrested for OVI. He will face charges at RRMC.

 

On 12/24/2013, at 1218 hrs, an Appleblossom resident reported that his unlocked vehicle was entered overnight, and a computer bag and laptop were stolen. On 12/28/2013, at 1420 hrs, the victim received a call from a Rocky River resident who stated he found his computer bag and computer lying in his front yard. The victim claimed his property. The same night, several unlocked vehicles on Maple were gone through, but nothing was reported stolen. BVPD reminds resident to please lock your car doors and report any suspicious activity immediately.

 

On 12/24/2013, at 0255 hrs, Westlake PD. reported a possible OVI was traveling north bound on Bassett Rd. approaching the railroad tracks. A BVPD officer located the vehicle and stopped it on Bassett near Ednil. While speaking with the 26 yoa male driver, the officer suspected the driver had been drinking. The driver admitted he had been drinking, and admitted he should not be driving. Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, he was arrested for OVI.  He will face charges at RRMC.

 

On 12/24/2013, at 0025 hrs, a BVPD officer stopped a vehicle on Dover Center near Wolf Rd. for a traffic violation. After speaking with the 24 yoa female driver, the officer suspected the driver had been drinking. Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the driver was arrested for OVI. She will face charges for OVI.

 

On 12/23//2013, at 2155 hrs, a BVPD officer stopped a vehicle on Dover Center near the railroad tracks for a traffic violation. After speaking with the 3 occupants, they gave officers permission to search them for contra band. As a result, 2 syringes were found concealed on a 22 yoa male, and another syringe was found hidden in the vehicle. The 22 yoa male and a 19 yoa male were arrested for drug paraphernalia charges. They will face charges at RRMC.

 

On 12/23/2013, at 2040 hrs, an Elmwood resident called BVPD to reports a group of kids rang her door bell and ran. Officers checked the area, but were unable to locate anyone.
