2013 was a busy and exciting year for the Village Project! Life became especially full when we signed the lease on our new Village Project home in early July. The summer found VP volunteers painting, lifting, lugging, cleaning, fundraising, and doing whatever was needed to ready our new home – all while  continuing to tend to VP gardens, cook meals, and extend care and services to our clients. Village Project volunteers are awesome!

Thanks to the help of so many, in September, we were blessed to move into our newly renovated facility at 27378 West Oviatt. We now have a large commercial kitchen, an activity area, community meeting spaces, administrative offices, and storage. The space has allowed us to increase the number of meals served and expand services to Rocky River.  Our new home also provides room  for volunteers and clients of all ages to greet, meet, cook, create, pray, talk, support, and laugh together.

On Sunday, January 12th,  I invite you to join us in our new home for The Village Project Volunteer Appreciation Open House.  Whether you are a Village Project volunteer, client, supporter, or someone who is interested in learning more about VP,  please stop by between 1:00 and 4:00 pm for cake and coffee and help us celebrate our volunteers.

With the exception of a  brief time of public thanks and sharing a few VP plans for 2014 at 2:30pm, there will be no formal agenda.  Information about upcoming events, an opportunity to purchase sportswear or quilt squares, building tours, and lots of good conversations will be ongoing. Oh, and if you are a volunteer and haven’t placed your handprint on the Activity Area wall – we have paint and wall space waiting for you.

Be sure to check out our web site

I hope to see you on January 12th.
