Bay Police: How to Reduce Your Gas Mileage

A Bay Village resident recently discovered a way to dramatically reduce his car’s gas mileage.

On Jan. 3  at 3:30 a.m.hrs, a Roxbury Park resident called the police department  to report the dome light was on in his neighbor’s car.  An officer checked on the vehicle, and discovered all the lights were on, and the engine was running.

Contact was made with the homeowner, who stated he started his car earlier in the evening to melt the snow on the windshield, and had forgotten to turn the car off.

 

Lots of DUIs

On 01/27/2014, at 2152 hrs, a motorist called BVPD to report she was following a vehicle on Lake Rd. near Dover Center, and she believed the operator was intoxicated.  The caller had observed the vehicle strike the curb several times and it was weaving within its lane.  Officers stopped the vehicle on Lake Rd. near Huntington Beach.  After speaking with the driver, the officer suspected the driver had been drinking.  Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the 51-yoa male driver was arrested for OVI.  He will face charges at RRMC.

On 01/28/2014, at 2336 hrs, a BVPD officer stopped a vehicle on Wolf Rd. near Douglas for a traffic violation.  After speaking with the driver, the officer suspected the driver had been drinking.  Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the 45-yoa male driver was arrested for OVI.  He will face charges at RRMC.

On 01/29/2014, at 0212 hrs, a BVPD officer stopped a vehicle on Normandy near Douglas for a traffic violation.  After speaking with the 34-yoa female driver, the officer suspected the driver had been drinking.  Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the driver was arrested for OVI.  She will face charges at RRMC.

On 01/31/2014, at 0031 hrs, a BVPD officer stopped a vehicle on Lake Rd. near Florence for a traffic violation.  After speaking with the 46-yoa male driver, the officer suspected the driver had been drinking.  Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the driver was arrested for OVI.  He will face charges at RRMC.

On 01/31/2014, at 0028 hrs, a BVPD officer noticed a taxicab parked in the parking lot for the Cahoon walking path, which closed at 2300 hrs.  After speaking with the driver, it was discovered he had a very intoxicated fare that was giving him a hard time.  The officer spoke with the intoxicated male, and followed the cab to the male’s residence, where he was dropped off without incident.

 

Active Warrant

On 01/31/2014, at 1035 hrs, a BVPD officer observed a 19-yoa female resident in her front yard that had an active felony warrant with Westlake PD.  When the officer pulled into the driveway of her Columbia Rd. house, she ran into the house and locked the door.  She refused to open the door and claimed she wasn’t coming out.  The door was eventually answered by her 18-yoa brother.  He let officers into the house and directed them to the basement where the female was hiding.  She was taken into custody and transported to Westlake PD.

 

Fraud

On 01/31/2014, at 1215 hrs, a Bassett Rd. resident called BVPD to report someone had fraudulently used her credit card to make on line purchases totaling nearly $3,000.  Police are investigating.
