Westlake Police Blotter: Tire Thief Recorded by Ex-Employer

A Detroit Rd. business reported the theft of 8 tires on Jan. 27. CCTV recorded 4 being stolen on Jan. 5 by a male employee who has since quit; they are valued at $400. A Petty Theft warrant has been issued for the 44-year-old Middleburg Hts. man involved.


Apartment Damage

The management of a Center Ridge Rd. apartment complex reported damage to a unit on Jan. 29. Holes had been punched in walls and doors damaged. The former tenants were evicted on Jan. 10 and are suspects.


Thefts from Vehicles

Two thefts from vehicles were reported at a First St. business on the evening of Jan. 30. A Sandusky woman’s 2002 Pontiac Grand Am had the rear passenger window broken and a purse with credit cards, gift cards, checks, and other papers was taken. A North Olmsted woman’s 2002 Chevrolet station wagon had the driver’s door damaged; $30 cash and a coat were taken.  No suspects.


No Apology

A female suspect tried to steal a can of paint from a Detroit Rd. store on Jan. 31 at 6:01PM. An employee stopped her and got the paint back; she then demanded an apology from the employee but did not get one. The employee also took down her license plate number, but it turned out to be incorrect.


Workers Suspected?

A Farmington Turn woman reported $3700 cash and rings worth $13,000 missing from her home on Feb. 1. She believes it was taken sometime Jan. 17-24 while she had workers in her home.
