On Monday May 12th, the Bay Village Middle School reported to Bay Village Police that a 6th grade female student did not show up for school.   In speaking with the girl’s parents, it was learned that the girl left home at 7:15am to ride her bicycle to school. Her bicycle was located abandoned on a paved path in the Huntington Reservation of the Cleveland Metroparks. The Bay Village Police and the Cleveland Metroparks immediately began a coordinated search for the girl. Additional resources, including the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) were mobilized. At 12:41 pm, two residents called to report they found the girl walking on the sidewalk on Walker Road in Bay Village. The girl was reunited with her parents and police. Police are looking into the circumstances which caused the girl not to go to school. At this time, Bay Village Police does not believe there is any criminal activity involved.   The Bay Village Police would also like to thank everyone who assisted in searching for the young girl after learning of her disappearance through social media.
