The inaugural St. John Medical Center Golf Classic held at Red Tail Golf Club in Avon on Mon., June 23 was a hit!

With over 30 foursomes and 130-plus golfers participating, this charity event benefits the St. John Medical Center Innovation Fund. Proceeds will be used solely to support innovative advances in research and treatment for the patients of SJMC.

SJMC President & CEO William A. Young reported the event exceeded all expectations. “This event is in its inaugural year and it is already the top fundraiser in the history of St. John Medical Center.”

Highlighting the day was the extraordinarily generous gift of $100,000 to SJMC from event co-chairs, Mary and Dr. Rustom Khouri.

Smith, CEO of event sponsor Spero-Smith Investment Advisors & Chairman of the SJMC Board. “Through their partnership with University Hospitals and the Sisters of Charity, this hospital is connected to the best there is in health care. The turnout for the Golf Classic was just phenomenal. SJMC is a gem right here in our own back yard and we don’t want to ever see that overlooked. I have seen first-hand the excellence they have achieved. The golf outing was a great way for supporters to come together, have a good time and also bring resources to the ever-increasing demands the hospital faces in its commitment to excellence.”
