The Cancer Center at Fairview Hospital scored big, at the 13th annual Drive for Life Golf Benefit held at Red Tail Golf Club in Avon on July 15.
Presented by the Community West Foundation and the 2014 Drive for Life Golf Committee of the Cancer Center at Fairview Hospital, 140 generous golfers participated.
Proceeds from this event will benefit the Caring Continues Fund which provides help and hope to cancer patients receiving treatment at the Cleveland Clinic Cancer Center at Fairview Hospital.
Sue Dunson, Vice President Oncology Services, was on hand during a luncheon presentation to talk about the important work addressed by the Caring Continues Fund. The fund helps patients with expenses such as rent, groceries, utilities and medication resulting from their cancer diagnosis. Many times, cancer patients who are in therapy are in need of assistance in daily life. The Caring Continues Fund and the participants of the Drive for Life ensure that these important needs remain addressed all year long.
Golf Committee Co-Chairs were William W. Baker, Chair of the Board, Community West Foundation, and Mark Stevens, Chair of the Board, Fairview Hospital. Committee members included Bill Ayars, Jim Dale, Fred DeGrandis, Jeff Disrud, Sue Dunson, Matt Marie, Ray Marvar, John Meyerhofer, John Mills, Kevin Nolan, Mike Ohm, Bill Sillasen, Timothy Spiro, MD, and Dan Zezena. Representing Community West Foundation were David T. Dombrowiak, President and CEO, and Pat Kubene-Simacek.
