The need for cancer patients to keep up with household bills like mortgage payments, utilities and groceries never takes a break, even when a patient is too sick or not able to work during treatments.
That’s why the Oncology Social Workers of the Cleveland Clinic Cancer Center at Fairview Hospital teamed up with Mickey and Patty Krivosh, owners of Vosh and Georgetown, for a wine tasting fundraiser sponsored by Community West Foundation on Sunday, Aug. 24.
Social workers at the Center were able to help over 200 patients this year with rent, utilities, medication, car payments and transportation through the Caring Continues Fund. “We also provide Giant Eagle gift cards to assist with gasoline and food expenses,” report Peggy Filippi, LISW, Nicole Herbst, LSW, and Gwen Paull, LISW.
“We are also grateful to Fairview Hospital and the Community West Foundation for their guidance and support of these funds. This is a very unique program and is truly appreciated by our oncology patients, whose lives are made a little easier by this giving spirit.”
Many thanks to Mickey and Patty Krivosh for hosting the event, Artisan and Luxury Wines provided by Krystal Kovach from Wine Trends. Craft beers provided by Great Lakes Brewing Co. Cats on Holiday provided terrific music as guests enjoyed a perfect afternoon in the Vosh/Georgetown patio for a great cause.
