Fairview Park Police received numerous calls of a vehicle flipped over on I-480 west bound near the 8 mile marker on Sept. 15 at 2304 hours. Upon arrival police found a 2007 Toyota flipped on its roof, having slid over 500 feet. The driver was a pregnant 34 year old N Ridgeville woman who suffered non-incapacitating injuries in the collision. She reported that a dark blue pickup truck changed lanes from the slow speed lane to the 2nd lane, striking her vehicle and sending it out of control. The truck left the scene, never stopping. The female driver was taken to Fairview Hospital for treatment via the Fairview Park Fire Department.
September 15, 2014 Assault 1822 hrs – Police detained a group of juvenile males after receiving reports of someone having been tased while walking on Lorain Rd east of Mcdonalds (22535 Lorain Rd). In speaking with the victim, it was learned that after giving one of the male’s some money, the second pulled out a stun gun and zapped him in the arm. The stun gun was recovered on the person of the 15 year old suspect. Both he and the other male present, a 16 year old, were returned to the station. The male with the stun gun was subsequently charged with assault and turned over to a parent. The other male was also released to a parent, information turned over to Juvenile Court for possible charges on his role in the event.
September 18, 2014 Welfare Check/OVI/Fleeing-Fairview Park Police were contacted by Parma Hts PD to watch for a male who had reportedly taken 20 pills and was possibly suicidal. He had almost struck a PHPD unit with his car when leaving their city. The GPS of his phone placed him near the Fairview Park/N Olmsted border. A Fairview officer located the car near W 226 St/Lorain Rd and attempted to stop him. The vehicle took off w/b into N Olmsted, but was stopped when it struck a truck near Walter Rd/Lorain Rd. No one was hurt and the 26 year old male was detained. He was taken to Fairview Hospital and is to be charged with Operating a Vehicle Under the influence of Drugs, Reckless Operation and Fleeing/Eluding.
Passed Out in the Pews
September 18, 2014 Public Intoxication 1226 hrs –Officers were called to St Angela’s Church on a report of a male passed out in the pews. Upon arrival, officers found the male as reported with a bottle of whiskey at his feet. He was awoken and appeared obviously intoxicated. He thought he was at the Salvation Army. He was arrested for Disorderly Conduct: Intoxication and returned to the station. A check was run and he was found to have a warrant from the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections. He was held until sober and to be turned over to them on their warrant.
September 21, 2014 Burglary-A customer of a Brookpark Rd motel reported the theft of vinyl bag from his room. The bag contained a wallet, credit card, cash and other items. Surveillance video from the motel showed a female suspect and her car’s license plate had been run earlier by an officer. The registered owner matches the physical description of the suspect, to be followed up on by the detective bureau.
