At approximately 02:35 hours on Aug. 11, the Avon Lake Police Department received a call from Cleveland advising that two vehicles belonging to an Avon Lake resident had been located in their jurisdiction. Officers were sent to the vehicle owner’s address, and made contact with the residents. It was learned that the home had been entered and items were missing in addition to the two vehicles taken from the garage.
At approximately 05:45 hours, an officer on routine patrol observed an open garage door to another residence and stopped to check the home. After observing that the man door leading into the home was also ajar, contact was made with the residents. In doing so, it was learned that the home had also been entered and items were missing.
Evidence has been collected for further processing and officers are continuing their efforts to increase patrols within residential areas. Avon Lake residents are encouraged to lock up their property and to report any suspicious activity immediately to the Avon Lake Police Department.
In another release, police report the arrests of three juveniles on multiple counts of damage, theft and vandalism.
