dsc_2870-1You are overweight • You don’t make time for exercise • You’re tired and have no energy • Your blood sugar levels are higher than normal • You have a parent, grandparent, or relative with diabetes • Your waist is expanding • You have high blood pressure • You have undesirable triglyceride and /or cholesterol levels

One of these symptoms by itself, isn’t earth shattering, but collectively they could be signs of a silent epidemic that’s affecting children, women, and men: prediabetes.

Join us for prediabetes screening for ages 16 years and older October 11, 5-8 p.m. at UH St. John Medical Center, Building 2, Auditorium A & B, 29000 Center Ridge Rd., Westlake. The cost is $15 per person which includes the following screenings: HBA1C • Blood Glucose • Cholesterol • Blood pressure • Height • Weight • BMI • Waist Circumference • Diabetes Risk Assessment.

According to the CDC, more than 86 million Americans have prediabetes, and 9 out of 10 people with prediabetes do not know they have it. You can feel perfectly healthy as the disease is progressing. Many people with prediabetes develop type 2 diabetes within 10 years.

The good news is… can do something about it! Prediabetes can be treated and the risk of diabetes decreased through healthy lifestyle choices, if recognized early.
