Mercy and the Mercy Foundation of Lorain County Unveil the Newly Renovated Veard Family Birthing Center

Scott Pember, President Mercy Foundation, with Jon and Joy Veard.

In honor of the Veard Family’s transformative gift, Mercy proudly dedicated the Veard Family Birthing Center at Mercy Regional Medical Center with a special unveiling ceremony on Thursday, May 18.

The newly renovated birthing suites, updated to create a beautiful, home-like setting for patients and families, reflect Mercy’s commitment to providing the best environment and care for each and every patient and their families.

Services available at the Veard Family Birthing Center include:

  • Private delivery rooms with all the amenities of home
  • Obstetrician in the hospital 24 hours per day
  • Neonatologist on staff
  • Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for babies who need intensive care immediately after birth
  • Classes to prepare you for childbirth and caring for your baby

Surrounded by family and friends, Jon Veard said the gift expressed his personal gratitude for care he received at Mercy while also representing an example of giving he hopes others will follow.

“I have a good life, a good family, a good wife and I am respected by the community,” said Veard, head of United Property Mangement, a full service residential property management agency. “It is something I did because I felt I owed the community something and I would like to see others follow my example.”
