“Circus Spectacular”Brings Three-Ringed Fun to Avon’s Duck Tape Fest

Ringmaster Kyle Tipper of Amherst took home Duck Tape Fashion Show Grand Prize.

The annual Avon Heritage Duck Tape Festival held Father’s Day Weekend at Veteran’s Park in Avon is always a three-ring circus.

But this year’s Fest – the 14th for the summer staple – was especially festive as the theme ‘Circus Spectacular’ was embraced by the many participants in Saturday’s morning’s annual Duck Tape Parade from Avon High School to Veteran’s Park and the Saturday afternoon Fashion Show Extravaganza on stage at the fairgrounds.

Dozens of creatively spirited participants took to the stage of the Fashion Show as ringmaster LeeAnn of WGAR radio welcomed all to their moment of fame.

Grand prize winner was Kyle Tipper of Amherst, who wowed the crowd in a circus-ring creation he said it took him and his family three days to create.

“We live for this,” he said to LeeAnn when she asked about his inspiration.

“And what will you do if you win?” asked LeeAnn when she announced the over-the-top Cedar Point gift packages awarded to the top three place winners.

“What do you mean, ‘If I win…..?” laughed Kyle to the delight of the crowd.

Sure enough, when the crowd applause narrowed the stellar field to a final group, the judges did award Tipper top honors.

Here are all the winners:

Grand Prize – Kyle Tipper

Second Place – Katie Durham

Third Place – Rylee Rogers

Runners Up – Allaneh  Burkholder, Desiree Schafer, Kendall Guthrie, Elizabeth Usenicnik, Phoebe Barlow, Duane Weber, Alisha Elliott.

As for the rest of the weekend, guests of the Fest enjoyed beer, vendors, carnival games and great entertainment from the summer staple knows as the Avon Heritage Duck Tape Festival.
