Summer Theater Camp Comes to The Rose Senior Living

Theater Campers audition a routine at Rose Senior Living.

Theater Camp is a highlight of summer for many students interested in music, acting, dance and more.

TrueNorth Cultural Arts has teamed this summer with Rose Senior Living in Avon to host three separate camps for students in grades 1-5, 6-12, and Middle-High School age.

“We love it here at The Rose,” said TrueNorth Director Richard Fortney. “They have been very open to the arts and kids working with senior adults and the power the arts have in working within a community.”

“It is something we like to call ‘intergenerational learning,’” added Rose Senior Living Director of Life Enrichment Eve Wilhelmi, ADC, CDP. “It is good for everyone in the community.”

TrueNorth is using four large activity rooms within Rose Senior Living plus outdoor space for morning classes and afternoon rehearsals of a musical, “Into the Woods,” which will be presented at the nearby Emerald Event Center on Aug. 13.

“The kids are learning theater tech, individual arts and, of course, dancing, singing and acting,” added Fortney. Campers represent a wide variety of schools from throughout the West Shore and Lorain County.
