It was a colorful Fourth in Westlake as the community started its patriotic parade at 10 a.m. cheering for the bands, clubs, community organizations, and other participants in the annual Westlake Fourth of July parade.
The parade started at Lee Burneson Middle School on Dover Center Rd. and worked its way onto Hilliard Blvd. until it reached Clague Park.
After the parade, Mayor Dennis M. Clough, members of City Council, and special guests honored America’s birthday in a short ceremony.
Clague Park continued to be the site of many of the day’s other events, including the 28th Annual Charity Classic Car Show, a Dog Show, Martial Arts Demo and rides on the Euclid Beach Boys Rocket Ship Car. Children’s activities, free games at Peterson Pool, Noodle race, silly tube race and watermelon eating contest all added to the fun. Musical entertainment began after 6 p.m. and a gala fireworks at the park ended the day with a bang.
