Murray Ridge ‘Gives Back’ with Greeting Cards

The Murray Ridge Center set out with a goal at the beginning of the year to do “fifty acts of giving back,” at the start of 2017.

As of today, they have completed 109 acts around the county, and they are still going strong.

One of the initiatives was created by Jeff Colatruglio, recreation specialist for Murray Ridge. Jeff’s mom works for Mercy Regional Health Center in Lorain, so Jeff thought it would be a great idea to have a card making station set-up in the surgery waiting room area one day in July.

At the station, all were invited to pitch in and make ‘get well soon’ cards for patients and family members at the hospital that day.

It proved to be a great day as Murray Ridge students and clients were joined by many visitors to the hospital to bring their thoughtful idea to life.

It was a wonderful way to give back to the community. “We only wish you could be here every day!” said the Mercy team.

The Murray Ridge Production Center, operated by the Lorain County Board of Developmental Disabilities, has provided services that assist Lorain County residents with developmental disabilities since 1965. More than 2,000 individuals are supported by Murray Ridge each year. Their opportunity/vocational centers provide working opportunities to adults in the program. They have sites in Lorain, Elyria and Oberlin.
