Westlake Corporate Challenge Means Summer Fun!

Ryan Vajda and Amy Duncan of team Q-Lab rowed their way to victory in the cardboard boat races that culminated Westlake’s Corporate Challenge that took place last week.

Westlake is known as a community of successful businesses. The competitive spirit of those businesses came to life last week as the City of Westlake hosted its annual Corporate Challenge – a week-long series of fun activities staged at various venues around town.

Highlight of the week was the Cardboard Boat races that culminated the competition at the Westlake Recreation Center swimming pool Friday evening.

Won by Q-Lab, the Canterbury Road manufacturing company that also took the overall team title, the event brought cheers and laughs from the crowded arena.

“Westlake is known for its successful businesses,” said Mayor Dennis Clough as he presented trophies to end the evening. “But who says you can’t also have a little fun with your friends and families?”

The City is grateful to all the companies that took part in Corporate Challenge week, especially those who provided more than 120 backpacks stuffed with school supplies.

Donations came from Applied Companies, Biltmore Asset Management, Brookdale Westlake Village, City of Westlake, ECHO Health, Inc., Energizer, Q-Lab Corporation, Sea-Land Chemicals Company, Transponder Island, United Consumer Financial Services, University Hospitals St. John Medical Center, and Western Enterprises. They will be distributed by the Westlake City Schools to students in need.

If your employer is a Westlake company and didn’t have the opportunity to register a team by mid-June, please consider joining the fun next year!
