Straight from the Heart Fundraiser Donates $18,000 to Support New Playground Equipment at Avon Lake Eastview Elementary School

Thanks to funding from the Community West Foundation and the Cleveland Clinic Western Region annual ‘Straight from the Heart’ event held in February, a major contribution has enabled an exciting new playground to be installed at Avon Lake’s Eastview School.

Joining in for the check presentation on Sun., Aug. 20 were (L-R) Michaelann Cartwright, Eastview PTA fundraising, incoming Eastview PTA President Alyssa Soloff, outgoing Eastview PTA President Lisa Sheehan, Cleveland Clinic Avon Hospital President Rebecca Starck, MD, and Gwen Print, Nursing Director, Cardiovascular Services for Western Region Cardiology Cleveland Clinic.

Avon Hospital’s donation is funded through the Cleveland Clinic Western Region Hospital’s 2017 Straight from the Heart fundraiser, which is supported by the Community West Foundation. Proceeds from the annual Straight from the Heart fundraiser are distributed throughout the year to support the growth and innovation of cardiovascular services, education and promotion of a heart-healthy lifestyle for the communities of Avon, Fairview and Lutheran Hospitals.

“We are very grateful to Community West Foundation for their generosity and support in this fundraiser,” said Dr. Starck. “They make this possible. Also, this gift is one of several that continue throughout the year and serve cardiovascular services at all the hospitals in our western region, including Fairview and Lutheran Hospitals.”
