The Rocky River Community Chorus welcomes a new director and accompanist as it begins its 39th year of performing. Michele Haras of Lakewood will be leading the group. She earned her degree in Choral Music Education at Ohio University and is a teacher at Valley Forge High School. She also has private students in voice and piano. New accompanist, Kristin Johnson, an experienced choir accompanist, also participates in local theaters’ pit orchestras.
The chorus consists of 60 singers from 13 area communities. New members are welcome to join as fall rehearsals begin on Monday, September 11 at 7:30 p.m. and prospective members may attend their first rehearsal prior to registration through the Rocky River Recreation Department. Auditions are not required and there are no age restrictions. Rehearsals are in the choir room of Rocky River Middle School, 1631 Lakeview Ave. For information call 630-901-0564.
