On July 31, the new West Side location for The Gathering Place, named The Sandy Borrelli Center, opened in the Cuyahoga Community College Corporate College West building.

At 6,500 square feet, the new location provides more space to increase programming.

The Gathering Place hosted an event with hors d’oeuvres and drinks on August 30 to celebrate the new space as well as thank the donors, staff and board members that made the new location possible.

Remarks by City of Westlake Mayor Dennis M. Clough and Cuyahoga Community College Westshore Campus President Terri Pope highlighted the evening.

“It is appropriate that we are holding this event here in the Atrium of Cuyahoga Community College Corporate College West,” said Dr. Pope in her eloquent welcome to guests. “The atrium is the section of the heart that pumps out blood and gives life to the body. That is what The Gathering Place does. It is an atrium for hope and life.”

Guests were also welcomed by The Gathering Place founder Eileen Saffron as well as Sandy Borelli, who was genuinely moved by generosity of the people who made the move possible. A community open house will be scheduled at a later date.
