The Bay Village League of Women Voters Candidate Forum

Wednesday, October 4, 7 – 9:30 p.m.

Join the Bay Village League of Women Voters in the Bay High School Auditorium, 29230 Wolf Rd., for a wonderful opportunity to help make informed choices for the city’s future.

Candidates for Mayor, City Council President, Council-at-Large and City Council from all 4 Wards will be available to answer questions from the audience.

Bay Village Community Yard Sale for Hurricane Relief at the Bayway Cabin

Friday, October 6, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. • Saturday, October 7, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Please help us raise money for hurricane victims. We will be collecting the following: Toys; Books; Art Supplies; School Supplies; Office Equipment; Sporting Goods; Tools; Furniture; Jewelry; Kitchen Items; Home Décor and More. No clothing donations please.

The money raised from the sale of your donations will go to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Donations will be accepted at the Bayway Cabin (27400 Wolf Rd., Bay Village) during the following dates/times: Monday, Oct. 2 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Wednesday, Oct. 4 from 4 – 7 p.m.; Tuesday, Oct. 3 from 4 – 7 p.m.; Thursday, Oct. 5 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

On Friday, Oct. 6 there will be two food trucks at the event: The Little Piggy and Smokin’ Rock n’ Roll’s Gourmet Mac & Cheese. Trucks will be parked on the west side of City Hall from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. On Saturday, Oct. 7 you will be able to purchase pizza slices, doughnuts, coffee, and sandwich wraps that have been donated to the cause, thanks to Gina’s Pizza, Fragapane Bakery & Deli, Java Bay, and Sweet Melissa. Available while supplies last.

Lake Erie Nature & Science Center Fall Family Night and Hayride

Saturday, October 7, 6 – 9 p.m.

Fun for the whole family! Gather everyone up and enjoy hands-on fall activities for the kids, planetarium programs, live wildlife encounters and hayrides for all ages! No need to worry about dinner- we’ve got it covered. Hayrides run rain or shine. Fee: $14/adults; $9/child ages 2 and up; 1 year and under are free (includes dinner). Lake Erie Nature & Science Center SkyQuest: Exoplanets

Wednesday, October 11, 7:30 p.m.

For pre-teens through adults. Join us in the planetarium as we take an up close look at all the latest research on exoplanets. We will use models of the most recent discovery, the Trappist-1 system to talk about how other planets are discovered, the possibilities of life on those planets and the probability of us ever reaching them. Bay Village Women’s Club Meeting

Thursday October 12, 12:30 p.m.

Bay Village Women’s Club will present the program Health Through Massage at the their meeting on Thursday, October 12 at the Community Room at the Bay Village Police Station. Learn how massage therapy helps with pain, stress and depression relief.  Licensed Massage Therapist Samantha Scheel of Massage Heights at Crocker Park will also demonstrate exercises to do at home for common muscle aches or tightness. Free and open to the public.

Bay Village Heritage 5K and 1 Mile Walk

START TIME: Race Day Registration/ Packet Pick-Up at Cahoon Park – 7:30 a.m.; 5K Run – 9 a.m., 1 Mile Walk – 9:05 a.m.

Trick or Treat the Track

Friday, October 27, 5 – 6:45 p.m. at Bay High

A fun, family Halloween fundraiser! 4:30 p.m.: Registration begins; 5 – 6 p.m.: Gates open for trick or treating with support from local businesses and organizations; 6 – 6:45 p.m. Rocket Meal, Activities and Prizes; 7 p.m.: Watch the Bay Rockets football team tackle Valley Forge!

Cost is $10 per child (ages 3-12): this includes entrance to Trick or Treat the Track, collection bag and candy. Rocket Meal (hot dog, chips and bottle water), fun filled activities and entrance to the football game.

Cost is $8 per adult: this includes entrance to Trick or Treat the Track, a Rocket Meal and entrance to the game.

What to wear: Costumes are encouraged to show “spirit” for our Bay Rockets! Please keep in mind Elementary School guidelines apply – leave fake blood, weapons, masks and anything else too scary for young children at home.

Boo Village 2017

Saturday, October 28, 12 – 2 p.m.

Starts at the Bayway Cabin, Monster March from Bay Village Square up Dover Center to Dover Commons Shopping Center. Two bikes will be awarded for best costumes at Vivid Diamonds & Designs. Candy, Prizes and Family Fun!

Halloween Trick -or-Treat

IF YOU ARE AGE 60 OR OLDER: Dwyer Senior Center is Seeking Focus Group Participants

In the last sewer bill there was a survey for those age 60 and older. We received a great response, and the next phase of our research is to conduct 5 focus groups. We are scheduling 2 groups of age 60-70, 2 groups age 71+, and one blended with both age groups. This is a one-time commitment and will last approximately 90 minutes.

The dates/times are: 9:00 a.m.: Wednesday, Oct. 25 (age 71+), Friday, Oct. 27 (Blended); 2:00 p.m.: Friday, Oct. 20 (age 60-70), Tuesday, Oct. 24 (age71+); 7:00 p.m.: Wednesday, Oct. 25 (age 60-70)
