Bay Police: What Was that Boom?!?

What was that boom? Now we know!

On 03/11/2018, at 0347 hrs, a resident in the 600 block of Columbia Rd. called Bay Village Police to report hearing squealing tires and a loud bang.  The caller also stated there was a vehicle that was half in the roadway in the area. When officers arrived on scene, they located the vehicle that had obviously been involved in a crash.  Officers spoke with the driver, and suspected he had been drinking. Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the 47-year old male driver was arrested for OVI. The Westlake resident will face charges at RRMC.

Phone Fraud

On 03/06/2018, at 1102 hrs, a Salem Dr. resident reported that she had been the victim of a fraud.  She had received a call from Verizon indicating they needed to verify her account. She did not believe this to be a big deal because she had recently changed a few things with her account.  She gave the caller her PIN#, and shortly after discovered that she was unable to make or receive calls. Verizon was contacted and stated they did not call her. Her account has since been fixed.  Police are investigating. BVPD reminds residents to be very cautious whom you give personal information to over the phone.

OVIs

– On 03/07/2018, at 0143 hrs, a BVPD officer stopped a vehicle on Wolf Rd. near Columbia for an equipment violation.  After speaking with the 28-year old male driver, the officer suspected the driver had been drinking. Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the driver was arrested for OVI.  The Bay Village resident will face charges at RRMC.

– On 03/09/2018, at 0204 hrs, a BVPD officer stopped a vehicle on Lake Rd. near Bassett for multiple traffic violations.  After speaking with the 30-year old male driver, the officer suspected the driver had been drinking. Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the driver was arrested for Felony OVI (the driver had three previous OVI convictions in the last 10 years).  The Sheffield Lake resident will face charges at RRMC.

– On 03/10/2018, at 0220 hrs, a BVPD officer stopped a vehicle on Wolf near Upland for an equipment violation.  After speaking with the 20-year old female driver, the officer suspected the driver had been drinking. Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the driver was arrested for OVI.  The Bay Village resident will face charges at RRMC.
