Avon Eagle Run Draws 1300 for Memorial Day Weekend Event

Supt. of Schools Mike Laub, Edwin Oley of Mercy Health and Chris Carroll, Race Director, welcome runners.

The 18th annual Eagle Run presented by Mercy Health brought 1300 runners, walkers and guests to Avon High Saturday morning, May 26, to participate in different categories of running and walking races.

The annual event benefits the Avon School Educational Endowment Fund, French Creek YMCA and other local charities.

29 year old Mark Grogan of Bay Village topped the strong 5 Mile Run field with a first place effort of 25:39. 28 year old Malory Grogan of Bay won the women’s division in 33:16.

In the 5K, 16 year old Joe Laforet was first overall in 18:04 while Abby Sidloski of Avon, 16, won the women’s division in 22:54.

On hand to welcome runners were Edwin Oley, Mercy Health, Race Director Chris Carroll of Flavorseal, Supt. of Schools Mike Laub and Mayor Bryan Jensen. All shared gratitude for generous outpouring of support the Eagle Run brings to local funding and community resources.
