Bay Village Board of Education Appoints New Officers, Approves 2023 Meeting Calendar

The Board, with Supt. During its January 10, 2023, Organizational Board Meeting, the Bay Village Board of Education elected new officers for the 2023 calendar year. Dr. Scott Schulz was voted President and Dr. Andrey Stojic, Vice President.

“As a Board, we are excited about the direction the district is headed with the refresh of our strategic plan and the knowledge we gained at the recent Ohio School Board Association (OSBA) Capital Conference,” said President Dr. Scott Schulz. “We have an incredible team of teachers and administrators, who have a genuine passion for serving our students and community. We look forward to taking Bay Village Schools to the next level while honoring our shared values and strategic vision.”

The Board also approved a 2023 calendar year of Board meetings, which are returning to the Bay Village Board of Education office, 377 Dover Center Road, Bay Village. That list is here, with the next Board meeting scheduled for Monday, January 23 at 6:30 p.m.

Also on the Board meeting agenda was recognition of our Board members as part of School Board Recognition Month. Bay High School Senior Class President Renee Duffy read a Proclamation issued by Gov. Mike DeWine in honor of Ohio’s School Board Members. Renee also shared her gratitude on behalf of the student body.

“I would like to thank the Bay Village Board of Education for providing students with countless opportunities to succeed in our future,” said Renee.

District Media Specialist teacher Melissa Wolf and Bay Middle School seventh-grade Maker Space students Jane Fanter, Esli Gjeci and Owen Mendez presented the Board with personalized handcrafts to share gratitude from the district, and Anne Hart’s second-grade Normandy students made thank you notes for the Board members.

Dr. Scott Schulz – Newly Elected President

Dr. Scott Schulz was retained as a Board member in the November 2021 election. He was originally appointed to an open Board seat in November of 2020. Dr. Schulz is Vice President for Enrollment Management at Baldwin Wallace University, and has spent most of his professional career in post-secondary education. He has held positions at Pennsylvania State University, Saint Martin’s University and the University of Southern California. Dr. Schulz volunteers with American Corporate Partners, helping to mentor military veterans. He is a graduate of the University of Arizona, with a Ph.D. in Higher Education and a B.A. in Communication. He and his wife, Ruth, have two daughters in the district – both at Bay Middle School. Dr. Schulz has served on the Board’s Finance and Policy committees, and the district’s Purple Star Committee.

Dr. Andrey Stojic – Newly Elected Vice President

Dr. Stojic was elected to the Board in November 2021, and has served on the Curriculum, Wellness and Human Capital committees. He is a neurologist and epileptologist, and serves as the Center Director of General and Regional Neurology in the Cleveland Clinic Neurological Institute. He received his B.A. in Biology at Wittenberg University and degree in Medicine and Ph.D. in Neurosciences at the University Of Toledo Medical Center. Dr. Stojic completed his medical internship at MetroHealth Medical Center, followed by residency training in neurology and epilepsy at the Cleveland Clinic. He and his wife, Kim, have three children – a 2017 Bay High School graduate, and two students at Bay High School.

Mrs. Amy Huntley

Re-elected to the Board of Education in November after a 2-year hiatus, Mrs. Huntley has held numerous roles on the Bay Village Board of Education throughout her service from 2002-2019. Recently, she served on the Buildings & Grounds and Human Capital committees. She has lived in Bay Village for 47 years and is a graduate of Bay High School. Mrs. Huntley has also served as PTA President for Normandy and Westerly, Treasurer of five PTA units and treasurer of Bay Music Boosters. Her husband, Tom, is a retired Bay Village Schools teacher, all six of her children attended Bay Village Schools K-12, and soon, two of her grandchildren will enter the district. In addition to pursuing her passion for continuing the excellence of Bay Village Schools, she is a CPA and owner of Huntley & Co., LLC. Mrs. Huntley holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Baldwin Wallace University.

Mrs. Beth Lally

Mrs. Lally was elected to serve a second term in November 2019. She has held numerous roles on the Bay Village Board of Education including most recently on the Policy and Curriculum committees. Mrs. Lally is a freelance attorney who has worked as a professional liability defense litigator in New York and an attorney editor in Ohio. She was a Math Focus Group member and a substitute aide, and was active in the Bay Village PTA for many years. She holds a B.S. in Psychology from John Carroll University and a J.D. from Cleveland State University College of Law. Mrs. Lally and her husband, Robert, have two children, both Bay High School graduates.

Mr. Paul Vincent

Elected to his first term in November 2019 and most recently serving as Board President, Mr. Vincent previously served as Bay Village City Ward 2 Councilman for two terms. He is an attorney and partner with his brother, Adam, at Vincent Esquire In Westlake. He holds a B.A. in History from Walsh University and a J.D. from the University of Akron Law School. He has served as a member of the Board of Education’s Citizens Advisory Committee, and on the Board’s Finance, Buildings & Grounds and Wellness committees. Mr. Vincent and his wife, Kateri, have three children, all attending Bay Village Schools.
