Rock the Bald is a great area fundraiser held at Holy Trinity School in Avon at this time each year.
The 7th annual Rock the Bald was held the morning of Monday, May 22 in a packed-out Holy Trinity gym. Volunteers had their heads shaved and braids cut in a donation drive for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
This year, participants raised $31,505 (and surpassed the goal of $25,000). Since 2015, Holy Trinity has raised over $180,000 for the Foundation, which is a volunteer and donor powered charity committed to supporting the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancer.
The local community was also represented as students and a few adults “braved the shave” with barbers and stylists from local salons including Catanza’s Barber Shop, David Scott Beauty Bar, LaBarbaria Institute of Hair and Shear Styles Barbershop.
Avon City Employee Billy Butts has his head shaved for the fifth year in a row!
Recognitions were given to students who have now participated in this event for three, four and even five years!
Student Bryce Seabold earned the top fundraiser award for raising $2,928! Participants who raised more than $2,000 include Oliver Dockery ($2,051), Ben Brogan ($2,150), and Bobby Krisanda ($2,636).
Participants who raised over $1,000 include Laura of LaBarbaria Institute of Hair ($1,119), Henry Minor ($1,346), Bennet Sivik ($1,503), Mr. Mo ($1,733) and Patrick Whelan ($1,858).

- Scarlett Billman donates her hair with the help of Maria Ursetti
A special thank you went to the City of Avon Service Dept. employee Billy Butts who had his head shaved for the fifth year in a row. It is Billy’s only haircut of the year, something he does, he said, “to support the community!”
Donated braids are used to raise funds for Smiles for Sophie Forever, a local charity dedicated to battling childhood pediatric cancer.
Thank you to all!
