Down-to-the-wire excitement climaxed with a happy ending for the Rocky River High boys basketball team as the Pirates topped visiting Bay, 46-43, to claim the 2011 West Shore Conference championship. A packed gym, two talented teams and a hard fought game gave fans all they could ask for as the Pirates won their first WSC crown since 2006. By then topping Fairview last weekend, River ends the conference campaign at 13-1 and 18-2 overall. Bay needed a win at River to stay alive in the title chase. Despite a massive fourth quarter rally, the Rockets fell to 13-7 overall and saw their title hopes dashed.
