The 2nd annual St. John Medical Center Golf Classic was a success at Red Tail Golf Club on Mon., July 27.
More than 100 community-minded participants shared their time, talent and treasure in support of SJMC’s community health mission.
“Thanks to your generosity, and that of your companies, we have made the 2nd annual SJMC Golf Classic a tremendous success,” said SJMC President and CEO William A. Young, Jr.
The post-golf dinner brought words of praise for SJMC from several guests.
“My wife, Pamela, and I have become involved with the (leadership) program there and watched how the treatment, the personalities, the personal touch, the doctors, the administration and staff has just come together there,” said Bay Village Law Director Gary Ebert, Director of Probate for local law firm Seeley, Savidge Ebert & Gourash Co., LPA. “I cannot be more of a supporter.”

Mr. Ebert noted his experience as a patient at SJMC galvanized his admiration for the hospital.
“My family has lived about a mile from the hospital for the last 15 years. I knew about the long history of their Catholic tradition,” said SJMC Board Chair Robert C. Smith, Chairman & CEO Spero-Smith Investment Advisors. “Since I have become involved with the board I have learned a lot more about its medical excellence. It is really unusual to have a community hospital with this kind of depth of medical excellence and in a great Catholic tradition.”
William Dalman, Sr. Vice President, Regional Manager Huntington National Bank, said the Golf Classic personified his company’s credo of “Customers, Community & Colleagues.”
“I can’t think of an event that really exemplifies our commitment more than what we are doing here today,” he said.
“We are fortunate to have our partners, The Sisters of Charity Health System and University Hospitals, for their continued support to help St. John Medical Center grow and be the premier medical facility on the west side, ” added Young, who singled out Chris Burdon, Senior Development Officer at SJMC, for his efforts in organizing the Classic.
Special praise was also extended to Dr. Rustom and Mary Khouri, Carnegie Management and Development Corp., for their generous support of SJMC at the outing and also through many years of commitment.
Others on the Golf Classic Committee were Victor Geraci, Martha Krebs, Donald Hart and Eva Zunich.
