Sex Offender Nabbed at Westlake Hotel

The investigation of an illegally parked vehicle at the Sperry Rd. Super 8 lead to the arrest of a sex offender who barricaded himself in a room the afternoon of Sept. 14.

Events transpired at at approx. 12:45 p.m. with officers investigating a vehicle parked illegally in a handicapped parking space at the Super 8 Hotel on Sperry Rd.

Upon finding the room associated with the vehicle, a male misidentified himself to the investigating officers. The male subsequently closed the door and barricaded himself in the room with a female.

While officers were attempting to identify the male, another associated female at the hotel was located. She identified the suspect male and was subsequently arrested for an entered felony warrant out of Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department.

The male in the room, identified as a 43yo out of Cleveland, was found to also have a felony warrant for failing to register as a sex offender along with several misdemeanor warrants from various departments.

Officers surrounded the building while Westlake negotiators spoke with the male and female in the room.

Eventually the male voluntarily exited the hotel room without further incident. He was arrested and transported to the Westlake Jail. He was later charged with obstruction, resisting arrest and inducing panic along with the various warrants for his arrest.

Who is the Mystery Man?

REQUEST for IDENTIFICATION: On 5/29/18, a complainant responded to Westlake Police to make an identity theft report. Approximately a month prior, he began to receive credit card statements and other bills for accounts he had never opened. Later, the victim learned a vehicle had been rented in his name but never returned. Other creditors were reporting that someone had attempted to open credit in his name.

In all, 8 lines of credit had in fact been opened and used fraudulently. To top it off, the Hertz rental car, when recovered, was found with 6 bullet holes in the front.

WPD is requesting any information on the pictured person, described as a thin black male. He has been photographed using the complainant’s information.

Flailing Man at Crocker Park

On 9/10/18 at approx. 10:54Am WPD received a report of a male acting strangely in the parking lot of a restaurant at Crocker Park. A caller said the male was “flailing around taking his shirt off and yelling.” The complainants said that the male then entered a vehicle and drove S/B on Crocker Rd after almost striking another car. Officers located him a short distance away where he was stopped. The 38yo from Parma claimed to be having medical issues but showed signs of impairment. He was transported to St. John Medical Center where he was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated as well as driving under suspension and weaving. Cuyahoga County Sheriff also had a warrant for his arrest.

Man v. Pole

On 9/8/18 at approx. 6:11PM WPD received a report of a vehicle that had jumped the curb in front of Houlihan’s Restaurant on Detroit Rd. A male was passed out in the driver’s seat. After being woken up by officers, the 38yo from Mansfield seemed confused and showed signs of intoxication. He refused field tests and was arrested for OVI. Later he also refused a breath test. The vehicle was towed and the suspect was given a court date in Rocky River Municipal Court.

Tires Swiped

On 9/12/18 a car dealership on Detroit Rd reported that someone stole wheels and tires off of a new car. The theft of the 4 wheels occurred sometime overnight. Surveillance cameras are being reviewed for possible further evidence.
