TrueNorth Cultural Arts will present a Patriotic concert on Saturday, June 22 at Avon United Methodist Church.
The TrueNorth Chorale and Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Richard Fortney, will present their annual Patriotic Concert on Saturday, June 22, at 7 p.m. at Avon United Methodist Church, 37711 Detroit Road, next to the Avon High School. The Concert will be outside behind the church; lawn chairs, beach blankets and picnic baskets are welcomed! The Concert is open to all, there will be a love offering to help offset costs.
A special tribute will take place for our Armed Services asking all who have served to stand and be recognized. The concert will recognize the men, woman and family of the armed services, our local police and fire men/woman, and our scouts. The evening will serve as a time of reflection and hope, celebrating the past, praying for our future, as we celebrate our freedom.
The 40+ musicians will perform patriotic favorites such as America the Beautiful, Battle Hymn of the Republic, When the Saints Go Marching In, Stars and Stripes Forever, and God Bless America.
The Concert will feature guest Brian Bigley – Irish Musician, and Dancer.
Brian Bigley comes from a musical family on the west side of Cleveland where he first heard the ethereal sound of the Uilleann Pipes at the West Side Irish American Club. Soon after, at the age of eight, he began studying with Achill Island piper Michael Kilbane. Since then, Brian’s sensitivity to the art of Uilleann Piping has developed into a high level of understanding with the help of his family and the countless musicians that have crossed his path.
Brian is also a world-class Irish step dancer. Studying with Bob Masterson and Catherine Leneghan from age seven, he went on to compete with distinction at the World Championships in Glasgow and Killarney.
He has toured extensively throughout North America and Europe as a piper, flute player, whistle player, and dancer. Competitive accolades include taking first prize for senior piping at the Midwest Regional Fleadh Cheoil.
Join us as we celebrate our independence and freedom. This year’s Patriotic concert is sponsored by Avon United Methodist Church, North Coast Rotary, and TrueNorth Cultural Arts.
