Knickerbocker Seniors Collect Socks

The seniors at the Knickerbocker Apartments in Bay Village, took on the SockPlus Challenge set up by the Community West Foundation. As soon as they heard that socks were the most requested item by the homeless, they decided they could make a difference.

Activities Director, Nancy Plain, renamed the month of October to Socktober and asked each resident to donate one pair of new socks during the month. By the end of October they had collected 135 pairs of socks. Nancy delivered them to Community West Foundation at the beginning of November whereby they were delighted to get them.

Now it’s game on! During December they will collect mittens to donate. Giving to those less fortunate than themselves is how the seniors keep the sense of community alive at the Knickerbocker. They are truly a wonderful bunch of seniors.
