Congratulations to the Westlake High wrestling team for winning the inaugural Cleveland West Conference Championship Saturday hosted at Westlake High School!

The Westlake High wrestling team celebrates their win in the first-ever Cleveland West Confer-ence championship meet. It was the third conference title in a row for the Demons in former Great Lake Conference competition.
Westlake crowned six champions and had placewinners in 13 of the 14 weight classes.
Demon placers were: Mo Jnid – 106 Champion; Jake Hunter – 113 Champion; Omar Abdeljalil – 120 2nd Place; Chase Morgan – 126 Champion; Tanner Moore – 132 Champion; Cole Schefft – 144 Champion; Hamza Gheith – 150 2nd Place; Ameer Shouman – 157 Champion; Nabiel Qasem – 3rd Place; Omar Wahdan – 2nd Place; Dean Zupan – 2nd Place; Sammy Salem – 3rd Place; Soliman Elsebaei – 3rd Place
- Westlake’s Chase Morgan (right) battles Anthony Wing of Valley Forge on his way to the 126 pound title.
- Tanner Moore of Westlake got the pin over Buckeye’s Daniel Leonard in the 132 pound final.
- Cole Shefft (Westlake) pinned North Olmsted’s Stanley Campbell for the 144 pound title.
- Omar Wahdan of Westlake faced Amir Abukhalil of Valley Forge for the 175 pound title.
Other champs included Nathan Hale (Valley Forge) 120, Phillip Kennedy (North Olmsted) 138, Dylan Heffron (Rocky River) 150, Matthew Chalkwater (No. Olmsted) 165, Amir Abukhalil (Valley Forge) 175, Issac Pedersen (Bay) 195, James Moore (Normandy) 215, and Brendan Flowers (Rocky River) 285.
