Horse Rescued in Rocky River Reservation

A heroic effort to save a horse hopelessly mired in mud was all in a day’s work for a number of rescue agencies recently in the Rocky River Reservation of the Cleveland Metroparks.

The saga began when the Southwest Technical Rescue Team was called out to assist the Cleveland Metroparks Police on June 30 with a horse that was stuck in the mud and sinking deeper as it tried to move.

The over two-hour rescue was a success and the veterinarian on scene confirmed no injuries. Shout out to the equestrian that stopped and got down into the mud to lend a hand.

The experienced Mounted Unit of the CMP as well as the fact that there were other personnel on scene that are horse owners prevented this situation from a different outcome.

The incident occurred in the Lagoon Picnic area. In the Rocky River Reservation.
