Avon Lake Big Trucks Draws Hundreds

Hundreds of kids and families joined in on Saturday, September 20 for the annual Big Trucks event at the Avon Lake Fire Dept complex.

Free to one and all, the event opens the department to the public and focuses on introducing residents and children to the various trucks and equipment seen throughout city.

Participants were able to meet representatives from the Avon Lake Fire Department and Police Departments as well as visit and sit on vehicles and equipment, County Sheriff and FBI Vehicles and Equipment, Medical Transport Aircraft, Emergency Response Watercraft, County Emergency Command Post, Avon Lake Department of Public Works, Military Vehicles, Utility Company Vehicles. Health Screenings by Regional Hospitals and the County Health Department were available and the Avon Lake Early Childhood PTA, various local & county agency booths manned tables

Food trucks were also available for food purchases. Children 18 and under could earn a coupon for use at any of the food trucks on-site by completing their Big Trucks Passport. Passports were available to pick up at the DJ booth, and visit vendors inside the fire station garage to earn a stamp for each of the passport squares. Once your passport is full, bring it to the DJ booth to redeem it for your coupon! Food trucks included Cheesy Dave’s, Franks-n-Shakes, Frankie B’s, Kountry Krunchin’s, Kona Ice & CLE Cotton Candy.
