Bay Village City Schools Destination Imagination Teams Advance to State Competition

Late last month, 13 teams from Bay Village Schools competed at the Destination Imagination (DI) regional tournament at Barberton High School. Teams worked hard for many months to get ready for the competition and had a very fun and successful day. Of the 13 teams competing, 10 teams qualified for the DI State Tournament happening on March 28, 2026 at Lakota East High School in Liberty Twp., a suburb of Cincinnati. Congratulations to all the teams and parent volunteers, and to DI Moderator Leigh Ann Spratt.

Here are some highlights by building:

• Westerly Elementary School: Every single Westerly team that competed advanced to the State Tournament. In the Technical Challenge, the fourth-grade team of Tiny Exploding Kiwis won first place.
• Bay Middle School: In Middle Level Fine Arts, the sixth-grade team of Drama Squad took first place and received a special DaVinci Award for exceptional creativity. The seventh-grade team of Neverending Fortuneless Cookies earned the Spirit of DI award for displaying teamwork and integrity. Each Bay Middle School team was invited to compete in the State Tournament.
• Bay High School: The ninth-grade team of Oh My DI won second place in the Technical Challenge and earned a Renaissance Award for demonstrating special skill in engineering and design. The 11th-grade team of Dork Incorporated won first place in the Improv challenge.
