A Bay Village resident contacted Bay Police on May 11 to advise a vehicle was in the air and would like BVPD to respond for a welfare check. BVPD responded and observed a large tree-trimming crane positioned vertically and striking two homes. The crane, operated by a private company, tipped over while work was being completed. The area was secured and blocked off while the company arranged for the proper equipment to safely rectify the incident.
News reports indicate damage to two homes as well as the grounds. The tree company was not registered with the city but reportedly was in the past. The Bay Village Building Dept. reports the company was cited and will now have to report to Rocky River Court. All homeowners should make sure contractors are registered with the city in all trades (and also insured).
