Monday, June 1 (All Day) June Craft Kit Pick Up – Celebrate June with some fun crafts. Space is limited. Registration required, beginning May 23. Crafts recommended for ages 3-7.

Monday, June 1 (All Day) Adopt a Reading Buddy Pick-Up – Kick off your Summer Library Challenge by adopting a stuffed animal reading buddy! Kits include a cuddly stuffie, journal, practice packs, and more to help make reading fun all summer long. Registration begins May 23. Grades 1-3.

Monday, June 1 (10-10:45 a.m.) STEAM Ahead: Birds and Their Nests – Let’s look closely at birds and their feathers. We will construct our own nests. Ages 4-6, up to kindergarten. Registration begins May 23.

RESCHEDULED Monday, June 1 and Tuesday, June 16 (7-8:30 p.m.) Our Founding Documents – Across two different sessions, Katie Salis and Chad Statler will discuss the founding documents of our republic. Register for one or both sessions. June 1: Declaration of Independence and the Federalist and Anti-Federalist Papers • June 16: The Constitution and the Bill of Rights

Tuesday, June 2 (6-7:30 p.m.) and Saturday, June 13 (10:30 a.m.-noon) and Makerspace Foundations: CNC Orientation – Attend an orientation to learn the basics of using the CNC router and become a verified user of the machine. Registration begins one week before each session.

Tuesday, June 2 (2-4 p.m.) Jewelry Junction: Evelyn’s Jewelry Workshop – Bring in jewelry to repair or remake into something more modern. You can also just come and make a jewelry item of your choice. Registration begins May 26.

Tuesday, June 2 (7–8:30 p.m.) World at War Forum: Best Allied General of WWII – In another installment of our Best Of series, fellow forum members will give brief presentations on who they believe are the best commanders on the Allied side during World War II. Please register.

Wednesday, June 3 (10:30-11:15 a.m.) and Saturday, June 20 (11-11:45 a.m.) Adapted Storytime – Join us for this storytime designed for children who may not be successful in a typical storytime experience. Content is geared toward ages 3 to 7 years. Registration begins one week before each session.

Wednesday, June 3 (2-3 p.m.) Virtual Author Talk: Mary Savig, “State Fairs – Join us for a fascinating discussion with Smithsonian curator Mary Savig on the history and significance of craft at state fairs–from blue-ribbon quilts to sculpted butter cows, and so much more! Please register.

Wednesdays, June 3, 10, 17 and 24 (5-6 p.m.) Bow Wow Books – Stop by Youth Services to sign up for a 10-minute reading time with a reading therapy dog. Sign-up starts at 4:30 p.m. Grades K-4.

Wednesday, June 3 (6-6:45 p.m.) Meet Your Makerspace! – What is the Makerspace? What can you make?  Come and learn all about the equipment available and what is required to use it! Registration begins May 27.

Wednesday, June 3 (6:30-8:30 p.m.) Horror Film Club – Join us for another creepy classic from the Vault! New members are welcome, but children under 13 must be with an adult. Please register.

Thursday, June 4 and Wednesday, June 17 (1-7 p.m.) American Red Cross Bloodmobile – Please give blood with the American Red Cross Bloodmobile.

Thursday, June 4 (3-4 p.m.) Tech Bytes: iPhone and iPad Help Session – Have quick questions about your iPhone or iPad? Need help with basic features or apps? Join our Help Session for a casual drop-in opportunity to learn and share tips.

Thursday, June 4 and Monday, June 8 (6-8 p.m.) and Sunday, June 7 (2-4 p.m.) High School Study Café – Exams are on the way! Come study at the library. Snacks and study spaces available in the Youth Services Department for students  in grades 9-12.

Fridays, June 5 and 26 (3-4 p.m.) Pride Month Pinback Buttons – A drop-in hour at the Makerspace to celebrate LGBTQIA Pride with a pinback badge/button-making activity. Makerspace staff will be standing by to operate the button machine and train any interested new “buttoneers” with the machine. Allies and all ages welcome! Limit two free buttons per participant. All materials and instruction will be provided.

Saturdays, June 6 (10:30-11 a.m.) Family Storytime: Ohio Celebrates the Outdoors – Join us for rhymes, songs and play! Ages 2-6 with a caregiver. No registration required.

Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 14 (2-3 p.m.) Brick Builders – Do you love Legos©? Then bring your ideas and imagination to Brick Builders! Bricks provided. No registration is required, but room capacity is limited. First come, first served. Ages 5-12.

Pick-up begins Monday, June 8 Kinder Club Kit Pick-Up – Each bag will contain a variety of early literacy concepts that will be featured on our Kinder Club Blog. Ages 4-6. Registration begins June 1.

Monday, June 8 (11-11:45 a.m.) Adult Stories – Adults with disabilities laugh, sing, listen to stories, and do a craft or a coloring page. Registration begins one month before each session.

Monday, June 8 (7-8 p.m.) Earth “kind” Meetup Group – Meet with other veg/plant-based- curious individuals to discover new flavors, new foods and more ways to be kind to yourselves and to our earth. This group will meet most months on the second Monday of the month. Various topics will be discussed. No registration required.

Tuesday, June 9 (7-8 p.m.) Let’s Talk! Spanish Language Social Hour-¡Hablemos! Hora Social en Español – Meet other fluent Spanish speakers for informal conversation. Register to join.

Tuesday June 9 (7-8:30 p.m.) Tuesday Evening Book Club (In Person AND Virtual) – Join the WPPL Tuesday Evening Book Club in person or on Zoom to discuss “Good Night, Irene” by Luis Alberto Urrea. The discussion will be held in person and on Zoom simultaneously. Please register. If you register for the Zoom option, you will receive a Zoom invitation and instructions by email.

Wednesday, June 10 (12-1 p.m.) Cooking with Chef Garrett – Learn a new recipe to add some pizzazz to your weeknight cooking. Chef Garrett from the Community Center will demonstrate a recipe you can add to your weekly meal plan. Please register.

Wednesday, June 10 (7-8:30 p.m.) Environmentalism Book Club – This month’s title is “How High We Go in the Dark” by Sequoia Nagamatsu. Please register.

CANCELED Thursday, June 11 (9:30 a.m.-1 p.m.) Jewelry Junction: Right-Angle Weave Bracelet – Make a beautiful right-angle weave bracelet using crystals, a beading needle and fishing line. The seed beads are tiny, so you will need good vision or reading glasses. This program is for adults and teens. Registration begins June 4.

Thursday, June 11 (3-3:45 p.m.) Short Story Workshop: Twisted FairyTales – Listen to a fairy tale that has a surprise twist, learn literary terms, then write a humorous short story.  No registration required. Grades 1-4.

Thursday, June 11 (3-4 p.m.) Tech Bytes: Android Help Session – Have quick questions about your Android device? Need help with basic features or navigation? Join our Help Session for a casual drop-in opportunity to learn and share tips! No registration required.

Thursday, June 11 (6:30-7:30 p.m.) Social Hour for Teens with Autism – This social hour is a safe and fun space for teens and young adults with autism who are currently enrolled in high school to meet and hang out! There will be snacks and games. We are pleased to partner with the Cuyahoga Board of Developmental Disabilities as a Library Facilitator location. WPPL thanks the Cuyahoga County Board of DD for their grant to accomplish a year of inclusive programming. No registration required.

Thursday, June 11 (7-8:30 p.m.) Trivia Night: A Night at the Theater – Curtains up! How well do you know your Broadway? Is your Shakespeare up to snuff? Let’s see! Register solo or in teams of 2-5. There will be music, fun friendly competition, and prizes for the winning team! Grades 7 to Adult.

Thursday, June 11 (7-8 p.m.) Virtual Author Talk: Matt Dinniman, “A Parade of Horribles – Matt Dinniman, New York Times bestselling author of the wildly popular (and just plain wild) Dungeon Crawler Carl series, joins us to chat about his latest book. Streamed live. Please register.

Thursday, June 11 (7-8:15 p.m.) Thursday Night Book Discussion – This month’s title is “The Correspondent” by Virginia Evans. A limited number of copies will be available at the Circulation Desk. No registration required.

Friday, June 12 (2-2:30 p.m.) Sidewalk Art! – Enjoy a short story time focused on the elements of art, then make some beautiful chalk art creations in WPPL’s Reading Garden! No registration required. Grades kindergarten-4.

Saturday, June 13 (10:30-11 a.m.) Outdoor Family Storytime – Join us for rhymes, songs, and play outside in the Friends Pavilion. Ages 2-6 with a caregiver. No registration required.

Monday, June 15 (9 a.m.-9 p.m.) Spice it Up! Take-Home Kit: Dill Weed – Each kit will contain a sample of the featured spice, some background on the spice and a couple of recipes! This kit will contain dill weed. Registration opens June 8.

Monday, June 15 (1-2 p.m.) Children’s Planting Workshop – Learn the basics of gardening and plant your own herb pot with The Herb Guild Garden Club affiliated with the Holden Arboretum and Garden Clubs of Ohio. Please register each child separately, beginning June 8. Grades 1-4.

Monday, June 15 (1-2 p.m.)  True Crime Book Club – This month’s title is “Helltown,” by Casey Sherman. Please register.

Monday, June 15 (7-8 p.m.) Dinosaur Magic – For children and parents alike, this exciting show features stories and tales mixed with magic, all with fantastic dinosaurs great and small. Presented by Jim Kleefeld. Registration begins May 18. Ages 4-12, siblings and families welcome. Please register.

Tuesdays, June 16 (11 a.m.-12 p.m.) Adult Takeover of Teen Lounge – The adults are taking over! Come to WPPL’s Teen Lounge for video games, board games, snacks and more. For adults with disabilities and caregivers. No registration required.

Tuesday, June 16 (1-2:30 p.m.) Phineas and FUN – Celebrate the start of summer with snacks, activities, and a screening of your favorite brothers’ summer shenanigans! Grades 2-5, siblings welcome. Please register.

Tuesday, June 16 (6-7 p.m.) Print a Pot – Get ready for summer! Plant in a 3D printed flower pot while learning about 3D printing at the library! Filament and plant colors will coordinate with the America 250 theme! Registration begins May 26.

Tuesday, June 16 (6:30-8 p.m.) Craft Club – Join us for craft club! All crafts and skill levels welcome. No registration required.

Wednesday, June 17 (2-4 p.m.) Teen Foodies – Celebrate America250 as we serve up foods invented in the USA. This month’s dish is Key Lime Pie.  Registration begins June 10. Grades 7-12.

Wednesday, June 17 (2-3 p.m.) Wednesday Afternoon Book Discussion—The Wednesday Book Group meets the third Wednesday of each month. This month’s title is “The Wishing Game” by Meg Shaffer. No registration required.

Thursday, June 18 (10-11 a.m.) Your Liver, Your Health: A Community Educational Program – Join Dr. Naim Alkhouri in a discussion on the importance of liver health, early detection of liver disease, and current advancements in treatment and management. Please register.

Thursday, June 18 (1-1:30 p.m.) Hear Me Roar: Storytime with Strength – This cross-generational program connects patients with Parkinson’s Disease with our community by sharing stories, songs, and movement in this interactive storytime. PreK-Grade2, siblings welcome. No registration necessary.

Thursday, June 18 (2-3 p.m.) Virtual Author Talk: Ted Page, “Good Grandpa – Join us in conversation with storyteller and popular blogger Ted Page as we chat about his book, “Good Grandpa: Stories from the Heart of Grandfatherhood.” Streamed live. Please register.

Thursday, June 18 (2-3:30 p.m.) Estate Planning Basics – Join estate planning attorney Elizabeth Perla for an informative session. Bring your questions and leave with a clearer understanding of how estate planning can benefit you and your family’s future. Registration begins May 21.

Saturday, June 20 (1-2 p.m.) Make Your Own Zine! – Stop by the library and create a one-of-a-kind zine! While supplies last. Grades 5-8.

Saturday, June 20 (2-4 p.m.) Make It, Take It! – Stop by Youth Services to complete a featured craft. While supplies last. No registration required. Not available for pickup at the drive-up window. No registration necessary. PreK-grade 2.

Sundays, June 21 (2-3 p.m.) All Abilities Playdate – An open playtime for children of all abilities. Developmentally appropriate toys and a sensory station will be provided for open, imaginative, nonjudgmental play. No registration required. Ages 2-7 with a caring adult, siblings welcome.

Sunday, June 21 (2-3:30 p.m.) Friends’ Ice Cream Social – Bring your friends, family and yourself for an afternoon of a local favorite ice cream, plus delicious coffee drinks, fun activities, party music, and more!

Monday, June 22 (10-11 a.m.) Jesse Jukebox in Concert – Jesse Jukebox and DJ Turkey Sandwich perform an interactive concert where kids can be kids and grown-ups have fun, too! Registration begins May 25. Ages infant-8, families welcome.

Tuesday, June 23 (2-3 p.m.) Virtual Author Talk: Sana Javeri Kadri, “The Diaspora Spice Co. Cookbook – Join us as we chat with Sana Javeri Kadri and Asha Loupy about their cookbook, which celebrates beautiful and simple cooking with recipes adapted from India and Sri Lanka. Streamed live. Tuesday, June 23 (6-7:30 p.m.) Charcuterie Board Assembly – Learn from Jennifer Mattson, Heinen’s Grocery Store deli manager, how to build a charcuterie board. Sample delicious meats, cheeses, and fruits. Registration begins June 16.

Wednesday, June 24 (6-8 p.m.) A Celebration of Stories – Celebrate beloved book characters with crafts, games, and more! No registration required. All ages.

Wednesday, June 24 (6:30-8 p.m.) Customized Ohio Parks Travel Map – Celebrate Ohio’s wonderful outdoors by creating a customized map of the Cleveland Metroparks or Ohio State Parks with the laser engraver! This program is a part of the library’s America 250 celebration. Registration opens June 17.

Wednesday, June 24 (7–8 p.m.) Adult Creative Writing Group: Pride Edition! – Join us for an hour of writing prompts to inspire you to keep writing. Creativity is more than putting pen to paper. It’s about breaking away and trying something new! For adults and teens age 16 and up. Registration begins May 27.

Thursday, June 25 (1-2 p.m.) Make Your Own Plushie – Customize your own special plushie. Grades 1-4. Registration begins June 18.

Thursday, June 25 (6:30-7:30 p.m.) Sports Card Fanatics Swap and Trivia – Sports card fans and fanatics, view and swap cards and compete in a trivia game. This is a great event for children and their caring adults together. Feel free to bring your cards. All ages. Registration begins June 18.

Friday, June 26 (10:30-11:30 a.m.) Hoop, Hop, Hooray! – Drop by the Friends Pavilion for an hour of active fun with our jump ropes and hula hoops! Learn classic jump rope rhymes, practice your hula hoop skills, and challenge yourself to keep moving. It’s all about fun, fitness, literacy, and play. Ages 5-10, siblings welcome. No registration required.

Saturday, June 27 (10:30-11 a.m.) Family Storytime – Join us for rhymes, songs and play! For ages 2-6 with a caregiver.

Saturday, June 27 (11 a.m.-12 p.m.) Journaling Workshop: Discover Therapeutic Journaling – Join Nina Liu-Guechev, from Ellie Mental Health, for a hands-on workshop exploring therapeutic journaling. Bring in your own journal, or use one provided. Registration begins May 27.

Saturday, June 27 (1-2 p.m.) Pokémon Fun! – This will be a time to view and trade cards, do a craft, battle your librarian, or play a Pokémon Bingo game. Feel free to bring your cards! No registration required. Ages 6-11.

Saturday, June 27 (2-4 p.m.) Family Virtual Gaming Event – Games Done Legit is bringing their collection of Virtual Reality games. From the newest games for VR, to the nostalgic video games you grew up with, this event has something for everyone. Grades 3-12. No registration required.

Sunday, June 28 (2-3 p.m.) Come Play With Me – An open playtime for children. No registration required. Ages 2-6 with a caregiver, siblings welcome!

Monday, June 29 (9 a.m.-9 p.m.) July Craft Kit Pick-Up – Celebrate July with some fun crafts. Space is limited. Crafts recommended for ages 3-7. Registration begins June 22.

Monday, June 29 (7-8 p.m.) Investing Basics: “Rules of the Road” – Learn ten core investing principles that can help you make informed decisions, avoid common mistakes, and stay on track toward your financial goals. Presented by Edward Jones Financial Advisor Daniel Trotter. Registration begins June 29.

Monday, June 29 (7-8 p.m.) Bubble Show – Celebrate bubbles big and small in this bubble show presented by Zap Entertainment featuring The Bubble Lady! Registration begins June 1. Grades PreK-5, siblings welcome.

Tuesday, June 30 (11 a.m.-12 p.m.) Try Your Hand at Creating AI images – Join us for a hands on demo of AI image generators! Have fun creating images of your cat doing jumping jacks. This is a demo for fun only! Registration begins June 23.
