At the Avon Fishing Derby

A summer highlight occurred at Northgate Park in Avon last Saturday when the Avon Lions Club hosted its annual Fishing Derby. The pond there had been stocked by the Avon Parks and Recreation Department and the Lions provided the bait. It was a great morning of fun under sunny June skies as kids and parents wet their lines and received prizes courtesy of Cabela’s for a variety of categories, including largest and smallest fish. One kid reeled in a mussel. And the prize for the most unusual catch went to the boy who hooked his father in the forehead. They were at the Emergency Room when the prizes were awarded.
