Ohio Assembly Plant Expands Community Investment with Avon Batting Cages, Senior Mobility Program

Ford Motor Company’s Ohio Assembly Plant and the City of Avon marked a new chapter in their longstanding partnership Friday with a ribbon-cutting for Ford-sponsored batting cages at Veterans Memorial Park.

Ohio Assembly Plant representatives Ryan Perniciaro, Pattie Entenok and Sarah Kilroy joined city officials and community leaders to celebrate the new batting cages, which will serve youth leagues and families for years to come. In attendance were Avon Mayor Bryan Jensen; Senior Center Coordinator Clare Harasimchuk; Park Manager Aaron Crane; Recreation Coordinator Susan Beres; Paula Pitasky, City of Avon sponsorship coordinator and owner of Encompass Marketing; and Michael Burcewicz and Antwuan Armstrong of Avon Ohio Little League.

Mayor Jensen praised the partnership during the ceremony, pointing to the range of Ford-backed support that has benefited Avon residents in recent years.

“Ford has been an incredible partner to the Avon community… Their contributions to the Avon Pool, the Avon Senior Center, and the Veterans Memorial batting cages have made a meaningful difference for residents of all ages,” said Avon Mayor Bryan Jensen.

The event also spotlighted a new Ford Bronco Sport, purchased by the City with Ford funding, that will help expand transportation for Avon seniors to medical appointments, the library and other essential services. Residents can schedule rides by calling 440-934-RIDE.

For Ohio Assembly Plant Manager Tony Serra, the new vehicle and batting cages represent something bigger than donations — a reflection of the plant’s deep roots in Avon.

“Ohio Assembly Plant has always been more than a workplace, it’s part of the fabric of this community,” said Plant Manager Tony Serra. “These investments reflect what we stand for at Ford: taking care of the people around us, not just the vehicles we assemble.”

With nearly 1,700 employees, many of whom call Avon home, Ohio Assembly Plant’s investment in the city is personal and a direct commitment to the neighborhoods where its workforce lives and raises families. The new batting cages and senior transportation program join Ford’s ongoing sponsorship of the Avon Pool as part of a growing legacy of community support.

The Avon investment builds on Ford’s proud partnership with baseball nationwide. As the official automotive partner of Major League Baseball, the support for the Veterans Memorial Park batting cages reflects that same spirit at the local level, turning a national commitment into a hometown investment for Avon families.
