Bay High Football: One for the Books!

Bay celebrate this year’s trophy – The Helm – after their big rivalry win over Rocky River.

The 2017 football season was one for the books for Bay High.

The Rockets not only made the playoffs for the fourth year in a row, they became the first Bay High football team to achieve a 12-0 record before finally seeing their season end in the Div. 3 Regional Finals on Nov. 17.

The 2017 Rockets now go down in history as one of the truly great teams in school annals.

Not only did they reach the Regional Finals, the 2017 Rockets are the first to post a 10-0 regular season record. They also won the outright Great Lakes Conference Championship for the first time, won the first home playoff game in school history, and became the first Bay team to ever win 12 games in one year.

“Very proud of these Rockets!” says Coach Ron Rutt now that the dust has settled.

It’s a sentiment shared by his seniors, who will only grow to appreciate this special season more as years go by.

“Wouldn’t trade this team for anything. Thanks to everyone for all the support, always will be proud to be a Rocket,” says star running back Trey Psota.

“Thank you Bay football for an unbelievable 4 years,” adds fellow senior RJ Sunahara. “History was made and I wouldn’t trade this group of guys for anything.”
