The City of Westlake always celebrates the Fourth of July in a big way, kicking things off with a parade from Lee Burneson Middle School to Clague Park on Independence Day morning.
Mayor Dennis Clough, Mrs. Virginia Clough and granddaughter Grace led the day as the procession started along Dover Center and headed to festivities at the park.
Lady Liberty! Westlake Police families proudly helped lead the parade in patriotic fashion!
At Clague Park, Mayor Clough, members of City Council, and special guests honored America’s birthday in a short ceremony that included the National Anthem, patriotic readings, parade awards, and presentations. Many community events followed, including the 30th Annual Charity Classic Car Show, Dog Show, Martial Arts Demo, rides on the Euclid Beach Boys Rocket Ship Car and more. Balloon clowns and face painters were among the children’s activities, free games were held and awards given every hour for Noodle races, silly tube race, watermelon eating contest, funny swimming race and a tennis ball hunting contest. Musical entertainment by DJ Easy at the Westlake Aquatic Center & Peterson Pool was provided until dusk, followed by a gala fireworks display.
