Westlake Music Boosters Host 67th Music a la Mode

Westlake Schools and the Westlake Music boosters hosted the 67th Music a la Mode at the Westlake Performing Arts Center last Saturday.

The day-long event featured musical presentations from every music organization in the district – from 5th grade band and orchestra to the many high school programs including band, orchestra, choir and more.

Highlight of the evening was the world premier of “Truth, Fidelity and Honor,” a piece written by Ryan Nowlin in memory of late Westlake Music Director Thomas F. Hill.

The beloved Mr. Hill founded Music a la Mode in the late 50’s and set the stage for Westlake’s excellence in music education to this day.

“His voice has joined a chorus that charges us to carry on

With the music woven in our souls like a beacon pointing to the shores.

He showed us the way and taught us how to live

A life of purpose, loyalty and love lights the way for those to follow…..”
