Earlier this month, laughter, stories, and a whole lot of love filled the air as the Mittendorf descendants gathered for a joyful afternoon at the beautiful home of Jeanne Gilles (Mittendorf) in Avon. With family members traveling in from Ohio, California, and Michigan, it was a heartwarming celebration of heritage, connection, and shared memories.

The tables were bursting with color thanks to stunning hydrangea arrangements straight from Cathy and Mike Gilles’ garden—nature’s perfect centerpiece for a day of reminiscing and reconnecting. Generational stories flowed as freely as the amazing ribs from Tom’s, and ice cream pop from Handel’s with old photographs and historical treasures sparking conversations and laughter across all ages.
One of the day’s highlights was a special field trip to the historic home of Henry Mittendorf (immigrated in 1872), where family members got a glimpse into their roots and shared reflections on the legacy that continues to unite them.
As the sun began to set, hugs were exchanged, promises to stay in touch were made, and excitement for the next reunion was already buzzing. If you’re a Mittendorf and want to join the fun, meet your cousins, and be part of this growing family tradition, reach out to filerfamily@sbcglobal.net—we’d love to welcome you!
