Mayor Clough joins with Dr. Des Rosiers, friends and West Shore Chamber Members at the ribbon cutting.
Westlake is home to an exciting new optical boutique on Dover Center Road near the corner of Center Ridge.
Dr. Chelsea Des Rosiers leads the medical team there and has several interesting connections to the West Shore.
She graduated from Magnificat High School in 2013 and went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from Cleveland State University in 2017 with a Bachelor’s in Biology and a minor in Spanish. She completed her doctorate in Optometry at Midwestern University.
Her boutique sits in a quaint century home that has been charmingly updated.
The building was originally a house built in 1863, back when Westlake was Dover Township. It was eventually converted to a retail space before becoming a dental office that belonged to Dr. D’s grandfather, Dr. Bennett.
She grew up coming to this building and has many memories of this space. During college, she worked at her grandfather’s dental office, which was instrumental in helping her choose to become an optometrist. Dr. D is so grateful that she now has the opportunity to renovate it for her own optometry office and can’t wait for all that is to come!
The name Eyes on Dover nods to our geographical area, when the city of Westlake was originally Dover Township, before becoming Dover Village in 1911 and then finally Westlake in 1940. And because of their love for not only the west side but also Cleveland, their logo honors the Guardians of Traffic statues found on the Carnegie Bridge going into downtown.
Eyes on Dover is a boutique-style optometric practice and optical committed to providing the highest quality eye care and exceptional products. “We utilize state-of-the-art technology to deliver personalized care to the whole family, including pediatrics,” says Dr. D. “We see patients of all ages and I especially enjoy pediatrics!
“Regarding the kiddos, I will see children at any age and the American Optometric Association recommends that children receive their first eye exam at 6 months old. Most parents don’t realize that the vision screenings at school and the pediatrician office do not replace a comprehensive eye exam, so we still recommend they be seen at least once a year!
“We offer advanced testing options, including digital retinal photos that can be taken in lieu of dilation drops, and also provide medical eye care for infections, diabetes, glaucoma, and more. With the end of the year approaching, we recommend patients schedule soon to avoid losing their insurance benefits before they restart in January.”
