A restaurant in Bay Square reported they received a call from a male on 2-12-2013 who identified himself as an employee of the Illuminating Company. The male indicated the restaurant had not paid the electric bill and the power would be turned off if the bill was not paid immediately. The owner had made online payment earlier in the week, but was not sure that it went through, so she purchased green dot money cards as directed as payment and provided the numbers to the male. When she later checked on her payment, she discovered her original payment had gone through and she had been scammed.
Bay Village Police were called to a residence on Electric Drive on 2-13-2013 at 1:07am to check on the welfare of the couple in the home. As the officers arrived, they observed a male and female arguing and struggling in the kitchen. The two were separated and the officers learned the male had assaulted the female several times over the last few days and was preventing her from leaving the house. The 36 year old male was arrested and charged with domestic violence and unlawful restraint.
On 2-16-2013 at 3:42am, a Bay Village PD officer stopped a vehicle on Lake at Columbia because the owner showed to be under a suspension. In addition, the officer located marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. The driver was cited and the vehicle towed.
A male and his girlfriend entered the police lobby on 2-16-2013 at 4:58am after having a verbal argument. The 22 year old male, who is a Bay Village resident, stated the 21 year old female from Akron refused to leave his house. They ended up at the police station where the female refused assistance to return home to Akron. Because of her intoxicated state, she was told to stay in the police lobby until she secured a ride home. The female refused to cooperate, became belligerent and began leaving the PD. She was arrested for disorderly conduct intoxication and eventually released to a friend after posting bond.
A vendor at the antique show at Bay High School reported property on her display was stolen on 2-16-2013. The small Victorian style antique was valued at over $250.00.
A motorist reported a speeding car driving all over the road on 2-16-13 at 11:32pm on Bradley Road. Officers located the vehicle in a driveway and made contact with the driver. The driver showed obvious signs of intoxication and ignored direction by the officers to remain in the car. He was arrested for DUI. He was uncooperative during the booking process, was charged with DUI and was later released on bond to a friend.
On 2-18-2013 at 1:47am, an officer stopped a vehicle occupied by three juvenile females. Parents were contacted to pick up their girls. Two girls were charged with curfew and one was charged with curfew and underage consumption of alcohol.
